In primary school, the Ukrainian language curriculum aims to preserve linguistic heritage, instill an understanding of the importance of the native language, and highlight its role in personal development. Subjects such as Literacy, Ukrainian Language, Reading, and Literary Reading are integral to the educational system in Ukraine. This demonstrates the significance and duration of the learning process in developing fundamental reading and writing skills at the initial stage of Ukrainian language education.
The primary goal of Grade 2 Ukrainian language instruction is to master Ukrainian literacy and develop students’ reading and writing abilities.
The school’s teaching staff follows the New Ukrainian School (NUS) curriculum, using a simplified teaching format while incorporating essential elements into lesson planning and material development for different age groups.
Teaching Approach
Considering the time students spend in school, we implement a comprehensive learning approach. We integrate various subjects, including mathematics, natural sciences, and social studies, into language lessons. This makes learning engaging, understandable, and contributes to the holistic and intellectual development of students.
Additionally, we actively use an online classroom platform, where students can access extra learning materials and interactive assignments to reinforce their studies.
Reading and Writing Development
Students develop and refine writing skills using two specially designed workbooks, tailored to meet the specific needs of the school’s learning process.
To enhance and improve reading skills, students use the “School of Speed Reading” books.
During lessons, teachers actively utilize an interactive “smart” board, which allows for more effective and engaging learning experiences.
Furthermore, while at school, children have the opportunity to communicate in their native language, interact with peers, play, and improve their communication skills in a natural environment.
All textbooks and workbooks required for student learning are ordered and delivered from Ukraine, ensuring authentic and high-quality educational materials.
